The Nappanee Police Department Patrol Division is committed to providing community-based policing with Integrity, Dedication, and Professionalism. Our mission is to preserve order and property through the proactive enforcement of laws.
The Patrol Division operates 24 hours a day with dispatching services being provided by the Elkhart County Communications Center. Patrol officers respond to a variety of service-related calls such as traffic accidents, calls for assistance, and ordinance violations while also concentrating on crimes against persons and property. Preventing such occurrences with a highly visible presence and proactive community enforcement measures is of the highest priority.
The City of Nappanee Patrol Division is comprised of both Full-time and Reserve Officers. Officers primarily work eight (8) hour shifts, consisting of morning, afternoon, and night shifts; each of which is led by a designated Sergeant. Some officers are utilized between the three shifts to maximize officer availability when call volumes tend to be higher. Each Sergeant works with and reports to the Patrol Captain, and ultimately the Police Chief.
