The mission of the Nappanee Police K-9 Unit is to provide line support to department personnel by providing a highly mobile, specially trained police dog that is capable of dual purposes such as apprehending criminal suspects, detecting drugs/narcotics, and detecting firearms/ explosives/ bomb odors.

The use of the K-9 unit is a valuable, effective, and legitimate tool for law enforcement and authorized during police operations when their utilization may contribute to the success of a specific objective. K9’s and their handlers are a highly trained team and receive ongoing training monthly.
