Initial Notice of CSO Discharges

The City of Nappanee operates a Combined Sewer System (CSS), a wastewater collection system which conveys sanitary wastewaters (domestic, commercial and industrial wastewaters) and storm water through a single pipe system of the Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW). A combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) is the discharge from a CSS at a point prior to the POTW. The City is required to notify the public within four (4) hours of the City becoming aware of a CSO event. This notification serves to alert you of a recent CSO event:

• Impacted waterbody: Berlin Court Ditch
• Location of discharge: CSO 018, just south of City’s Wastewater Treatment Plant
• Identification of public access areas impacted: None
• Date and Time CSO started:   7/14/24 at 6:00 AM

Supplemental Notice of CSO Discharges

The City of Nappanee operates a Combined Sewer System (CSS), a wastewater collection system which conveys sanitary wastewaters (domestic, commercial and industrial wastewaters) and storm water through a single pipe system to the Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTW).

A combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) is the discharge from a CSS at a point prior to the POTW. The City is required to notify the public within four (4) hours of the City becoming aware of a CSO event and provide supplement information with seven (7) days, if necessary. This notification is intended to supplement the initial alert you received concerning the CSO 18 event ;
